A journal of observations, thoughts, and experiences in pictures and words noted throughout the year. In conjunction with this digital photo journal I am also dedicating time each day to writing, drawing, and painting in my actual sketchbook. Through these two daily (or regular) processes I am looking for connections, for thought threads that stitch together the individual days. How does what I am thinking about in my environment and in my art arise in different visual forms over time? I wonder what kinds of things will be preserved in photos and what I will draw in my sketchbook? What ideas will I then translate into my paintings?
Some days will be recorded while others may simply be lived and become a fleeting part of my memory. These photos are simply taken with the camera on my phone as snapshots of something I noticed or experienced during the day. Rather than getting caught up in the phenomenological aspect of the project or letting the act of recording distract me from life, I want it to nurture a current of creativity and inspire work in my studio. Overall, the project is an experiment and the process is the important part.
While I consider this a personal project, I would like to share parts of it with you here. Thank you for taking time to visit.
