The dark and blowing blizzard that swept through the mid-west yesterday has left glittering drifts of white. The house sparrows, cardinals, juncos, doves, robins, and blue jays are chirping and flitting so we're keeping the bird feeder stocked. Our street is socked in and I have heard only one car trying to get out today. People are slowly emerging from their homes to shovel pathways. It is pretty cold but I do hope to venture on a little walk this afternoon, but it may be too much to take the camera along. In all this I am thankful our power has remained. And while I'm growing weary of stomping my boots at the back door and taking them on and off all the time, when the sun shines on fresh snow it is rather enchanting.
